MR.DIY Celebrates Motherhood at SOS Children's Village During Women’s Month

During a heartwarming event at SOS Children's Villages, MR.DIY Philippines commemorated the essence of motherhood during Women’s Month on March 8, 2024. The initiative aimed to pay tribute to the selfless dedication of SOS mothers, who lovingly nurture children irrespective of their backgrounds or life challenges.

Charles Salecina, Deputy Head for Marketing at MR.DIY, expressed, "Through our partnership with SOS Children's Villages, we celebrate the remarkable efforts of SOS mothers who devote themselves to nurturing children. With initiatives like this, we aspire to inspire others to spread kindness and create positive impacts within their communities."

During the event, MR.DIY employees assumed the role of "Uncles and Aunties for a day," guiding children to create heartfelt Mother's Day gifts using MR.DIY's arts and crafts materials. Thirty volunteers enthusiastically engaged with the children, encouraging creativity and fostering bonds through crafting activities.

Andrea Celica Santos, Corporate Relations Coordinator at SOS Children's Villages Philippines, noted, "This collaboration with MR.DIY has offered our children a fantastic chance to showcase their creativity and appreciation for their SOS mothers. Witnessing the joy and love infused into each handmade card is truly heartening, reflecting the strong connection between the children and their SOS families."

The highlight of the day was the crafting of Mother’s Day cards, each bearing a unique message of love and gratitude. The children poured their hearts into designing these cards, expressing their deep appreciation for the SOS mothers who have provided them with a nurturing home environment.

A touching moment occurred as the best-designed card received a gift pack from MR.DIY, adding an extra layer of joy to the occasion. This gesture not only acknowledged the children's artistic talents but also symbolized the special bond between SOS mothers and their children.

This celebration carried significant meaning as it redefined the concept of motherhood within SOS Children's Villages.
